Self-Cleaning Filters and Elements
Many of today's filter applications require filters and elements that can be cleaned automatically without shutting down a process line. Purolator is able to offer two types of self-cleaning filters: Poroplate® Cleanable Stainless Steel Filter Elements - Multiple layers of woven wire mesh sintered together into a rigid, durable structure, formed and welded into strong self-supporting filter elements. These are surface filters which trap contaminants on the upstream surface. The down stream support layers provide an open pore structure for high flow rates and excellent backflushing performance. Poroplate® filter elements are available in micron ratings from 2 - 200 micron. Standard sizes are 2 3/8" diameter in 10", 20", 30", and 40 " lengths. Custom shapes and sizes are also available. The standard alloy is 316L, with other alloys available. See Cleanable Stainless Steel Filter Elements below for more detailed information. Metaledge® Self-Cleaning Filters - Wedge shaped stainless steel ribbon with raised projections, wound edgewise on a cylindrical frame, and scraped by a knife edge. The knife edge removes the contaminant from the surface of the element, and is drained periodically from the sump. Metaledge® filters have been designed to filter the most viscous of fluids. Standard sizes are available from 3/4" NPT to 4" flange connections. 10 different micron ratings are available from 25 to 500 micron. Breather Filters & Check Valve Breather Filters
Purolator breather filters provide positive protection for hydraulic, engine and transmission fluid reservoirs and protection against damage to system components such as pumps, valves and cylinders by airborne contaminants. These breather filters act as ventilators to provide the free flow of clean air into fluid reservoirs and assure instant compensation of changes in liquid level. Metal Breathers All metal housing components provide long life and durability. The shield is made from carbon steel, while the case is a zinc die casting. Cap-style breathers have a bayonet-lock connection and serve as a combination filter cap and breather filter. Other metal breathers are available in several NPTF thread sizes, and standard steel flange and tube-type mating connections. Available with 10 and 40 micron filter media. Plastic Breathers Housing components are made form DuPont Delrin®, providing the ultimate in corrosion resistance. High strength makes them ideal for off-highway construction equipment. Available with 10 or 40 micron filter media. |
